How To Survive School: 2016
Hey everyone!
So, I haven't posted all summer. That's bad. I've made a decision and now I'm not going to post on a regular basis, I'm just going to post when have something to write about so it's kinda going to be a surprise for me and you. ALSO QUICK UPDATE: TO VIEW OLDER POSTS, YOU NEED TO BE A SITE MEMBER (create an account by clicking 'All Posts') JUST THOUGHT I SHOULD LET YOU KNOW! But this week was the first week back from the summer holidays and boy, I have been tired. So here are some tips and tricks on how to survive school, 2016 edition!
1. Sleeping
One of the most important things in all of our lives is sleeping. We all do it and we all love it. But during school, timings can get messed up and you can feel really tired in the morning. In order to be less sleepy in the morning, you've got to sleep at a good time the night before. I try to go to bed at 10:00pm so I have a little time to go through and check Snapchat, Facebook, Twitter etc. By 10:30pm, I am usually lying down in the dark (it helps) and have closed my eyes in order to trick my brain into sleeping.
Waking up the next day is difficult because I usually sleep through my alarm. I end up setting an alarm for 6:30am and then I snooze it twice so I am fully awake for the last one. I get up at 7:00am and I usually feel more awake as I've slowly gotten up instead of rushing it and doing it instantly.
2. Social Media
Okay, so obviously you have social media (who doesn't?) so you need to constantly check on all the updates. Like I said before, I check my phone in the evening before sleeping so I am completely ready. This can sometimes take really long, however, so a good way to reduce the nightly phone-time is to check social constantly so there is less of it too check in the evening.
Posting stuff is also crucial because you don't want people to think you're dead! To keep a good level of life online, you need to post every 3-4 days per social media. This helps to keep a good profile and will also help to get more likes and followers!
3. Homework
For the past 3 years, I have been SO bad with homework and it's because I have a 'I'll do it later' kind of attitude. This does become stressful though as when it is the night before the due date, I'll panic and do something really bad and rushed. This year, I've decided to keep on top of my homework so I don't get as stressed (I'm already stressed enough!). Something you've got to have is a planner. My school give me one but if you don't, you should get one because it's quick and easy to look at and keeps me organised. I also try to do the homework on the day it's set so it's over and done with. On the weekend, I found myself only doing one English task instead of the 7 others I would've normally had to do.
It's also helpful if you have a reward system or a break system because it tricks the mind into thinking it's doing less work. I usually watch YouTube for a bit and then start my homework, leaving a 15 minute break in between each piece. Afterwards, I usually stack all my books where I can see them so I can see what I've done (because I'm self-obsessed, yes, let's move on) and that way I feel ready to do more the next day.
4. Money
Okay, I'm probably not the best person to give advice on this because I love spending my money and I've 100% never stuck to these rules but here they are. It may seem tempting to buy a sweet or some crisps on the way to school, you're feeling tired and need something nice to boost your day, but trust me when I say, you're going to be fine later on in the day so you won't even need that item! I always regret buying it but I don't waste it because I bought that and I'm not gonna just throw away my money. Also, buying stuff in your cantine doesn't have to be everyday! Buy yourself something once every 2-3 days as a cheeky snack. You don't want to rely on school for your food because then you'll have a reason to go there and that is not something you want.
5. People
Friends are people that you're most likely to spend most of your time with so choose good ones. Being friends with someone is like a trust you've got and you build over time. If they're being kind of rude or ignoring you, then you have to remember that it's probably just another issue that they're expressing on you. If this doesn't stop within a a few days, however, you might need to find some new friends because they're not good enough for you and you don't deserve to be treated like that!
Teachers can also be annoying but you've got to remember, they see over 100 chatty teens every day and they get annoyed at every one so even one slight mistake could send them over the top. Sometimes they do get angry and it does seem like they're targeting you but it's again just because you're right there and easy for them to access.
So hopefully that guide helped and was kinda informative because lord knows I don't know a thing about advice giving. I'm not a counsellor! If I've missed anything then comment it down below (along with future post ideas too!) Hopefully talk to you guys soon (I dunno when I'm gonna be lazy or productive!)
Bye!
